About
Tavolino's
My
earliest memories of growing up in a big Italian family are
the aromas of Sundays and Holidays. I was especially blessed
to live in an apartment downstairs from my Grandmother in
New York. I had first hand experience helping her make
meatballs and the sauce every Sunday. Even at a young age, I
found my family’s zest for cooking contagious. Our love
for each other was shared through the exchanges of great
food and laughter at my Grandmother’s table (tavolino).
My passion for cooking led me to the Prestigious Culinary
Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY for formal training.
Upon graduating in 1996 with degrees in Culinary and Pastry
Arts, my culinary path has guided me from Maine to New
Jersey to New York and then to Florida. Having the array of
knowledge from school along with different areas of the
country has given me an extensive background in which to
expand on the basic fundamentals which were instilled by my
Grandmother.
Tavolino is a result of years of hard work and a dream to
honor my late Grandmother, Lena Bello. After my Grandmother
passed away, I decided I wanted to keep her original kitchen
table. My vision was to base an Italian restaurant around
the concept of my Grandmothers table where people would be
able to come and experience a unique combination of my
skills in Nouvelle cuisine intertwined with my
Grandmother’s home style cooking. I believe that mealtime is a special time for sharing and
making memories just as my Grandmother had done for our
family. So now I invite you to have an outstanding dining
experience and carry on our tradition at my “Grandmother’s table”………Tavolino Della Nonna
